Happy New Year!!
As we look forward to a hopeful 2012, we are reminded that it will take everything Democrats, Obama for America and all other progressive organizations can do to meet and defeat the Republican frontal assault on our country. Make no mistake about it, this will be a “no holes barred” fight to the finish! Make no assumptions and take nothing for granted.
As we all are aware, the backward, regressive corporate forces have been organizing, propagandizing, fundraising and strategizing on any and every way possible to beat President Obama….and we have no choice but to rise to the occasion and continue to work hard to rebuild the Democratic Party and it’s presence here where we live in South Baldwin county as well as in Alabama and the President’s campaign throughout the country.
In that spirit we start our activities for January:
Tuesday, January 3: Eastern Shore Democrats’ regular meeting at the Homestead Village Ballroom in Fairhope at 7:00 pm. Retired Supreme Court Justice Janie Shores will be the featured speaker. Justice Shores was the first woman ever elected to the Alabama Supreme Court and lives in Fairhope.
Officers for 2012 will also be elected. We all look forward to meeting and working with Charles Morris, the nominee for president of the ESD.
Thursday, January 5 (and continuing on the 1st Thursday of each month): Obama for America (OFA) South Baldwin team will have it’s first team meeting for 2012. As President Obama says, “Let’s get to work!”
Tuesday, January 10: South Baldwin Democrats’ regular meeting will be held at 6:00 pm. The place will be announced next week once everything has been confirmed. Their will be a short presentation on the current assault on voter’s eligibility by the Republicans.
After the presentation we will have a short phone bank to demonstrate and train attendees in identifying voters using the Alabama Democratic Party’s Votebuilder database. Everyone should please plan to participate either in making a few phone calls or helping in some other way at the phone bank. It is imperative that we have our entire membership understanding and supporting this project in some way.
